Dear Teachers, Youth Leaders, and others who wish to use our lesson plans: Thank you for choosing the KOG Ranger Program to teach the values of Oregon’s forests, the types of human behaviors that cause wildfires, and the ways kids can help prevent those wildfires. These lessons target kids 8-12 and include nine lesson plans giving an overview of each lesson, objectives to be met, materials needed for the lesson, and background information. All teaching materials are provided as are pages for the Rangers. These activities can be done either in a classroom setting or out in the forests. We hope you’ll use the forests. Also included are a pretest and posttest. We ask that you use these tools to help us know how much the kids really learn from the lessons. Here’s what we ask you to do.
Again, thanks for using our materials. While these lessons were piloted before each age group, we hope you’ll make any recommendations that could have made the lessons easier, better, more engaging, etc. for your group. If, at any time, you have a concern or suggestion, please feel free to call me at: 503-945-7499 or email me at mholly@odf.state.or.us. Thank you for helping Smokey Bear and Keep Oregon Green prevent wildfires. |
