Call before you burn!
Many Oregonians love to burn their backyard debris in piles or in burn
barrels. In the last five years, however, 1,096 debris burns escaped burning
6,005 acres and costing $4.6 million to suppress.
Escaped debris-pile or burn-barrel fires are the #1 cause of wildfires on state
protected lands in Oregon. Preventing these wildfires is your responsibility.
Please consider chipping or recycling.
However, if burning is your only option for debris disposal, here are some points to keep your debris burn from becoming Oregon's next wildfire.
